Computer basics

The weight of computers is universal. Computers are used in applications ranging from running a farm, diagnosing a disease, and designing to constructing and launching a space vehicle. Computer basic use is to improve communication, pay bill's online, people have access to things they would not have had before (for instance old people who cannot leave the house they can buy groceries online) computers make life easier.

Why do we need computers?

A computer, basic use could be to teach you many things like

4. Organizing documents, plans, newsletters, etc

A computer is basically made up of various computer components. Computer components are used to transit information from one device to another. These are hardware, software, operating system etc. Computer components are numerous ranging from input devices, output devices, spare parts, etc.

 

Why do you need computer hardware?

Computer is made of two basic things, software and hardware. Software is a set of programs which directs the system to carryout functions. Computer hardware are needed to display the output either in hard form (printout) or soft form (display on monitor, sound speaker etc), carryout the function using mouse, store information (floppies, Cds, pen drives, portable hard disks etc. Without computer hardware a computer has no meaning. Hence computer hardware is needed for many purposes. Computer hardware includes the Central Processing Unit (CPU) and related microchips and micro-circuitry, keyboards, monitors, case and drives (floppy, hard, CD, DVD, optical, tape, etc...). Other extra parts called peripheral components or devices include mouse, printers, modems, scanners, digital cameras and cards (sound, colour, and video) etc. Together they are often referred to as a personal computer or PC.
