Setup Emails

Email, a means of communication, can be accessed from anywhere in the world. You have to access the service provider’s website on a computer and access your email box. It acts like your very own portable post box for emails from your friends and relatives. It is totally free of charge to use (if you are on your home computer you only pay for the amount of time you are on the internet, through your normal internet provider or phone bill).

 

One of the best things about having your own domain is that you can set-up e-mail address (anything@yourdomain.co.uk). This gives you the power to give your friends e-mail accounts, have special names for sale events etc. An ideal e-mail setup has potential of checking all email accounts at one place, easily archive or delete mails, access email from mobile without loss of functionality.

 

How to set up email?

To send or receive electronic mail messages, you need an e-mail program and an internet connection. The easiest way to start is to use the e-mail software that is supplied with your web browser (Microsoft or Netscape). To set-up email is very easy. It is ideally one of the easiest of the online procedures and even a school kid having basic knowledge of computer can set up email account following simple procedures. To set up an email account or an email setup, you need to use the Internet Connection Wizard. This is a simple process that allows Outlook Express 6 to gather the necessary information from you.

 

Decide one of the email programs like Yahoo, Gmail, Outlook, Eudora etc and learn how to learn how to do email setup for that program.

          Start application (e.g. outlook express)

          Within Outlook go to the file menu and select 'Tools' and then 'Email Accounts'

         Select 'add new email account' and select type 'POP3'. You will be presented with the following fields to fill in:

          User Information:

          Your Name:  

           

 

o        This is the name that will be displayed when sending your email

  Email Address:

o        The email address people will reply to when receiving your email

  Logon Information:

 User Name:

o        The login you were provided by your host / email provider with email accounts this is your email address name eg: name@yourdomain.com - the login would be 'name+yourdomain.com'

Password:

o        As assigned by your email provider

 Server Information:

 Incoming Server (POP3) & Outgoing Server (SMTP)

When setting up Outlook to receive emails through a hosted email address select the 'more settings' (in some versions this is 'advanced settings'), and tick the box stating 'my outgoing SMTP server requires authentication', and 'use the same settings as my incoming mail server'. Please ensure you only tick the box for outgoing mail.
