Wireless Network Card Troubleshooting: Blue Screen of Death

Computer Wireless Setup

As Wi-Fi hotspots are mushrooming all over the world, they let people have the chance to get rid of those inflexible network cables and surf on the net wirelessly in the WLAN. However, a high-performance wireless internet access is not an easy thing for some users, because when contacting with your wireless network, your wireless network adapter may probably meet a lot of strange failures, which may seriously affect your networking experience if you don’t fix them in time, and the blue screen is one that among those common failures.

If blue screen shows on your computer immediately after you installed a wireless network card, above all, you need to check whether the net card driver you installed is compatible with your operating system, for example, if your driver is only available in Windows 2000, but you have installed it in Windows XP, well then your computer would be more likely to have a blue screen. Therefore, make sure you have installed the correct network card driver.

If your driver is compatible with your system and has been installed properly, you need to go through the installation of this network adapter, and check whether it has inserted to the right slot or port properly, for if you pull out the card from its PCMCIA port on the motherboard or its USB port just a few seconds after plugging it, blue screen would lightly happen, because frequent pullout and plug may make network adapter’s corresponding port confused and fail to identify this adapter. Additionally, if you pull out your net card suddenly when its LINK light is blinking, that would also leads to blue screen, or even worse, your computer or your network card’s port would be damaged.

Network Interface Card and Its Main Function

Wireless Network Support

The network interface card (NIC) is also called network interface controller, network adapter, network card or net card, which is one of the most basic components in the local area network (LAN). It is designed to communicate the computer with the network. No matter through what kind of connections, twisted pair, coaxial cable, or fiber optic, the data communication only can be achieved with the help of a net card. Similar to the sound card and other devices, a NIC card should has its own drivers to match it.

The main function of a network adapter is to pick up the data, send it to network cables from the computer, divide the data into appropriate packets and send them to the network so as to allow the computer to access that network. Each NIC card has a ROM chip that contains a unique number, the media access control (MAC) Address that is permanent. The MAC address identifies the device uniquely on the LAN.

Currently, the most commonly used net card in our daily life is the Ethernet network card. According to its transmission rate, we can divide the net card into three types: 10M NIC card, 10/100M fast net card and 1000M network card.

What is a SIM Card and what is “unlocking my phone”

London Computer Support

Sim Cards and Unlocked phones

A GSM phone is not directly linked to you|GSM phones are not binded to your device. Rather, it has a removable card, called a SIM (subscriber information module) and this Card has a unique number on it. This is what identifies you to your wirless provider

Generally cell phone service works so that the unique serial number in your cellular phones (its ESN) is used by the cell phone provider to identify you and connenct you to their network. The wireless carrier 'knows' that a particular mobile phone's serial number is your mobile phone and knows to send phone calls to that phone when someone dials your cell phone.

The important difference about this is that you can put your SIM into any compatible phone (rarely are gsm phones not compatible) and that phone will now act as your mobile phone, because sees the SIM that is tied to your account in the phone. They couldlnt care less that you've transferred phones, all they care about is if they can deliver service to your SIM
And now for the really glamorous part of this. In theory, you can transfer your SIM to any phone, the other way is also true. Any phone can communicate with any SIM card. So, if you've already bought an expensive cellular phone that you enjoy and have learned how to use, if you change from one GSM network to a new one, you don't have to shell out money for a new phone. You can keep the phone you've grown accustmed to, and all you need to do is swap the first gsm carrier's SIM with your new service provider's SIM.

Orlando Computer Repair Company reviews VOIP phone & Internet phone Companies Skype vs Vonage World

Computer Repair London

If your company conducts business outside of the United States the topic of international calling rates has come up. Most businesses owners fear looking at a phone bill after making or receiving Intl calls. There are simple solutions to manage or even eliminating the cost of Intl calling. Below are evaluations of two effective services that can be used to make or receive calls on your landline telephone or mobile device Blackberry, Windows Mobile, iPhone, or Google chrome android.

Skype is by far the best means to make international calls. Skype provides the ability to make calls to anyone on the Skype network for free; all you need is a Skype account and an internet connection. Skype users can also make calls to non-Skype telephone numbers, which will reduce the cost of per minute talk time drastically compared to using telephone companies. Skype also has hand handled phones that allows users to make calls using a WIFI connection, eliminating the need of using a computer to make calls. Skype software can be loaded onto iPhones and Windows Mobile phones which allow Skype users the ability to make free Skype to Skype calls or call non-Skype numbers through their account using their mobile device. Currently Blackberry devices do not support the Skype software.

Vonage World is a great service for calling abroad, but lacks many of the features of Skype. Vonage World allows users to call 60 countries for free. The only catch is most of these counties you can only call landlines and are charged for calling cell phones. Users can make calls on Vonage by using a regular phone without the need of a computer or special software. The per minute cost of calling internationally remains completive with Skype and beats telephone company rates. Vonage lacks the ability to make Vonage to Vonage calls for free. Vonage World works on Blackberry mobile devices unlike Skype software and also works on the iPhone. Currently there’s no way to share minutes between your Vonage mobile account and Vonage telephone line.
