Microsoft is expected to launch two security updates in coming week for Patch Tuesday for dealing with eight vulnerabilities. Furthermore, it also has said users to jog their memory that it will terminate support for certain windows versions in next few months.
Two security updates are supposed to be released by Microsoft in next week for tackling eight security holes in Microsoft Office and Windows. Both the bulletins will be having immense importance as said by Microsoft and the second most priority is given to its updates. The first bulletin deals with Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP whereas the second bulletin has to handle on problems in Excel 2008 and Excel 2004 on the Mac and Excel 2007, Excel 2003 and Excel 2002 on Windows. Moreover, the second bulletin will also affect the Open XML File Format Converter for Mac, Excel Viewer and versions of SharePoint Server.
When almost 13 security updates were released for 26 vulnerabilities, there has been small yet significant change since last month. The bulletins are not at all critical. In addition, generally end users go for open office format files like Excel owing to their serious and business oriented nature.
It is expected that the updates will go out on March 9th. There are no acknowledged attacks seen yet; however, company has endorsed their customers to analyze the advisory so that they can apply the recommended workarounds wherever needed. Users who are running Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2008 will not have any effect.
