Microsoft Windows News Update Service

The users of The Web Server Internet Information Services IIS of the versions 6 and 5.1 will now be able to include the application frameworks that are supporting the FastCGI protocols. Microsoft recently declared that the above stated versions have been finalized and are going to be released to the web. These versions have been released as an alternative to the FastCGI Extension 1.5 for the IIS version of 5.1 and 6.0.

According to the program manager, Ruslan Yakushev of the MS IIS team said that the FAST CGI is completely a product of the MS and is inclusive of various new features. HE further stated that the users of the FastCGI v 1.0 or the Beta version of 1.5 and 1.5 RC would be able to upgrade to the currently released version. He said that the configuration and setting done in the fcgiext.ini file would not be altered. It is advised that one should not change any settings prior to the upgrade. If required they can be done after the upgrade is downloaded.

The Fast CGI Extension is available for 32-bit as well as 64-bit based system structures. MS is professing that the new extensions will improve the performance of the PHP based components and the FastCGI application frameworks. Along with this, several features make the FastCGI Extension so special. The FastCGI is programmed to track changes to a file. The extension of the file can be configured as per the requirement of the user to scan changes occurring in a specific file marked by the user. Whenever the file will be changed, the extension will recycle the processes and store them in the process pool. This feature will be excellent to track the changes, recycle the PHP processes, and store them in the php.ini file.

Another feature that has been added to the extension is the real-time tuning of the setting of MaxInstances. The MaxInstances setting actually hold the highest number of the FastCGI processes which can be initiated for each application pool. If this is set to 0 then the extension will immediately adjust the number of instances automatically based on the system load and the request number in the stack or queue.

Report the termination of any process. The extension has been by default set to report the end of FastCGI processes. This then facilitates a clean shutdown of the IIS web server processes. If any error occur during the running of the IIS or any defects occur in the initial settings of the IIS then the extension will alert the user with more coherent and descriptive error messages.

These and many more updates of the Microsoft technologies and the web and client operating system services are available. To get to know more about them, log on to Save My System website.
