How to configure a wireless printer?
In this age of wireless gadgets, wireless printers are becoming more and more popular. The task of setting up a wireless printer is quite easy. You have two routes - buy one of the new wireless printer models that have the wireless server built in, or to continue using the existing printer, buy a wireless printer adapter, (also called a wireless print server). Advantages of this technology are very significant.
Now, to configure a wireless printer, run the installation wizard and go through following steps:
1. On the last screen of Installation Wizard, check the ‘configure print driver now’ and then click ‘finish’.
2. Information screen will appear. Click ‘ok’.
3. A list of ports for your USB printer will be displayed. Choose the correct printer port and click ‘Next’.
4. A message box will be displayed. Click ‘ok’.
5. You can click ‘Refresh’, if you have not seen the correct printer port. Printer port will be added to the list. Select the port and click ‘connect’.
6. Now click ‘close’ button to exit the printer port setup.
7. The printer will appear on the screen. If not, click ‘add new printer’ and then follow the instructions on the screen.
8. You would see the printer in existing printers list after installing it. Now select the printer and click ‘connect’.
9. Click ‘close’ button to end the printer port setup. Repeat this step on each computer system.
10. Click ‘refresh’ if you encounter any problem or do not see an asterisk with ‘port name’ in ‘printer port setup’. Sometimes you need to click few times more. You have been able to use your USB printer from this computer only. Verify the printer by clicking ‘start’, ‘control panel’ and then ‘printers and faxes’. Now select the ‘properties’ by right clicking the printer you have installed, and then click the ‘Print Test Page’ for verification of a valid connection with the wireless printer.
11. Now, choose the type of setup you prefer. Select ‘administrator’ and click ‘Next’.
12. Choose the destination location for wireless print server and click ‘Next’.
13. Lastly, click ‘finish’ to end the setup.
14. You can use the Bi-Admin management utility by clicking icon on your desktop to configure the settings of the wireless printer server.
15. Now select the options which you want to install and click ‘Next’.
16. Choose the destination and click ‘Finish’.
Bluetooth technology is important too. You can also use the adapter to convert other printers to’ Bluetooth capable’ so that you can print more easily.
