What is broadband?

Broadband is a broad bandwidth connection. It allows a large amount of data to travel through a medium at the same time. There are many opinions about what a large amount of data entails. It is all relative. When the internet was in its infancy, 2.4kbps was the fastest dialup speed available. Current 53kbps dialup speeds would seem to be broadband compared to back then.

Respond to intermediate data queries from O2 Broadband and data customers (e.g. Mobile Broadband, data cards, PDA handsets, Blackberry Solo, WLAN, XDA technical etc) within agreed service levels.

DSL

DSL or xDSL is a family of technologies that provide digital data transmission over the wires of a local telephone network. All dsl technology providers have adsl support section. The DSL support section is devised to provide additional assistance with the installation and configuration of DSL services through companies. All DSL users get email instructions for the configuration of their hardware when the services have been set up by the service provider. Users are also dependent on the service provider for delivery and termination of the DSL services. Companies providing dsl support services include verizon, AT&T, VISI, Dishnet etc.

ADSL

Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL), a modem technology, converts existing twisted-pair telephone lines into access paths for multimedia and high-speed data communications.

Some tips when encounter adsl problems:

If you have difficulty in connecting to your ADSL service, first check that your modem/router is working properly (usually shown by lights on the equipment).

If you are using a router it may need rebooting to re-establish your ADSL connection after a BT problem or power outage.
